Making changes can be a daunting task. It's easy to get stuck in a rut and feel like you're going through the motions day after day. But, if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got. That's why it's essential to take a step back and reevaluate your goals, habits, and routines.
Step 1:
First, acknowledge that you're feeling stuck and not working towards your goals or purpose. Then, take a closer look at your goals. Are they realistic? Are they still current? Are they achievable? Sometimes, our goals need to change to suit our current lifestyles. If you find that your motivation to get active is lacking, explore creative ways to infuse movement into your routine. Whether it's trying a new workout routine, joining a fitness group, or incorporating short, enjoyable activities into your day, finding ways to get active can reignite your motivation. If your goals are no longer important to you, it's time to change them to something you can be passionate about and something achievable with some hard work.
Step 2: Next, make small changes. Focus on changing one thing at a time. If you try to change everything all at once, you're setting yourself up to fail. Once you've successfully created one new habit or change, it's time to add to it. A habit tracker is an excellent way to keep track of your progress.
Remember: Don't strive for perfection; strive for progress. Nothing and no one is ever perfect. Rather than trying to be perfect, be proud of yourself for being consistent and making progress. Celebrate the small wins and reward yourself. Rewards don't have to be grand gestures. It can be something simple like taking a bubble bath or sitting in the sun and reading a book. Rewarding yourself can help you stay motivated and focused on your goals.
Step 3: Finally, do what makes you happy. If your goals and habits don't excite you, it's unlikely you'll stay motivated. So, go back and check your goals. Are they still relevant? Can you be passionate about them? With some hard work, are they achievable? If the answer is yes, then go ahead and be the best version of yourself. To help you get back on track, consider implementing steps that align with your renewed goals and passions. Achieve something new, and be brilliant! Remember: Making changes can be hard, but it's worth it in the end. Don't be afraid to take risks, make mistakes, and keep moving forward.
Don't forget to find support! Accountability is KEY, so whether that is a personal trainer, your Bootcamp community, or just a walking buddy, the process will be so much easier when you have someone you can reach out to when you are feeling disconnected from your goals. We have all been in the long cycle of trying to do it on our own, and giving up as soon as things get tough. Don't let yourself get stuck in that cycle again, reach out to a coach, friend, or partner and make a plan that you can be kept accountable to.
